Privacy Notice

1.     Introduction

I am committed to the assurance of proper processing of your personal information, handling it in a responsible manner, and securing it with industry standard administrative, technical and physical safeguards.

2.     About The Life Psych and Me

I am a Chartered Member of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and as such am bound by the regulations stipulated by the BPS Code of Ethics and Conduct, you can read more about this by clicking on the following link The Life Psych is operated by me as a sole trader business and I operate from premisses leased from Tettenhall Physiotherapy Limited at Tettenhall Physiotherapy and Wellbeing Centre, Mercury House, High Street, Tettenhall CH3 6PT 

3.     Why I need to collect personal information

If you supply me contact details such as a name, telephone number, email or postal address on either an answerphone service, electronically by a service such as What’sApp, or with administrative staff. I will use the information to contact you to provide the service or offer you an appointment. I also need to process your personal information in order to fulfil my contractual obligations to you as a coaching psychologist, for example to assess whether I can offer you my services or to answer your enquiry, and then to deliver effective coaching sessions to you should we commence. 

During coaching sessions, personal information is gathered on paper. Such as name, date of birth, phone number, email address, information related to your health and the reasons you have attended, information regarding the ongoing coaching process. 

4.     How I use your information used

  • To guide both my assessment process, and my decision-making during the coaching process.

  • To reliably and accurately identify your existing record in the future for follow-up sessions.

  • Contact details such as address, telephone numbers and or email address, are collected to enable changes of appointments or pre-arranged communication regarding your coaching.

  • Information gathered during the coaching sessions is treated as confidential. The coaching process is conducted in a ‘safe space’ and therefore information pertinent to the coaching relationship and or the content of sessions or your personal information will not be disclosed without your written permission or if I am compelled by law or my code of ethics dictates that I must do so. 

  • Internal training and personal supervision purposes – in which event any information will be anonymised.

5.     Who has access to the information

Your personal and sensitive information always remain confidential and will only be shared with your written consent, or I am compelled to do so by law. 

I will not sell or rent your contact information to third parties, nor will I share your information with third parties for marketing purposes without your consent.

6.     How I store your information 

When you supply me personal information, I take steps to ensure that it’s treated responsibly and securely. Information is kept in a secure, locked location for 8 years after the date of your last treatment or at age 25 years for patients under 18 years of age.  After this date it will be securely disposed of.

I will only contact you after obtaining your permission to be contacted for instances such as changes of appointment or to discuss your progress or gain consent to share information with relevant healthcare professionals.

7.     How to access and update your information

You have the right to see the information I have relating to you and can request this in writing.  You also have the right to amend any inaccuracies in the information I hold. The accuracy of your information is important to us, so if any of the other information we hold is inaccurate at the time of writing or out of date, please email me at Alternatively, you can telephone 01829 270544You have the right to ask for a copy of the information about you (I may charge £10 for information requests) to cover the costs in providing you with details of the information I hold about you.

8.     Security precautions in place to protect the loss, misuse or alteration of your information. 

When you supply personal information, I take steps to ensure that it’s treated securely. Non-sensitive details (your email address etc.) are transmitted normally over the Internet, and this can never be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, while I strive to protect your personal information, I cannot guarantee the security of any information you transmit to me, and you do so at your own risk.
